After the action-packed Christie Sevens in Nairobi, which wrapped up the third leg of the 2025 National Sevens Circuit, the spotlight now moves to Embu for the next stop of the series.
The Embu Sevens will be staged on Saturday, 23 and Sunday, 24 August at the Njukiri Showground.

The event has received a timely lift with Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL), through its iconic Tusker brand, unveiling a Ksh3 million sponsorship package.
Half of the funds, Ksh1.5 million will directly support the hosts, Embu Rugby Football Club, in managing tournament logistics, while the remainder is set aside to boost fan engagement through attractions such as the Tusker Village and the official afterparty.
KBL’s head of mainstream beer, Christine Kariuki, stated the partnership was more than just about sponsorship:
“We are proud to extend our support to the Embu Sevens, which is a new stop in the National Sevens Circuit. Tusker’s partnership is about celebrating rugby culture across the country and giving fans an unforgettable experience both on and off the pitch.
After the success of Driftwood, Prinsloo, and Christie, we are excited to now head to Embu and continue this journey.”
Tournament deputy director, Norman Mutai, welcomed the support, describing it as a big win for both Embu and the wider rugby fraternity:
“This support from Tusker is a big boost for us as hosts. It allows us to put together a well-organised tournament, welcome teams and fans from across the country, and showcase Embu as a proud rugby destination.
Preparations are on track, and we are confident of delivering two days of the ultimate rugby experiences at Njukiri Showground.”
Meanwhile, KCB Rugby head into Embu in high spirits after lifting the Christie Sevens crown. The Bankers beat Menengai Oilers 17-5 in the final hosted at the RFUEA Grounds on Sunday, clinching their eighth Christie title and their second piece of silverware in the 2025 campaign.
The win cemented their place at the top of the series standings, though Oilers and Strathmore Leos remain in hot pursuit.
Elsewhere, Kabete Stallions claimed the Division Two title with a commanding 22-0 victory over Makueni RFC, while Mwamba triumphed in the women’s category after edging Kenya Harlequins 14-5.
The Embu Sevens will be followed by the Kabeberi Sevens and the Dala Sevens, where the overall champions of the 2025 National Sevens Circuit will be crowned.
