Kabras Sugar RFC women's side, the Kabbies, have received a generous rugby kit donation from Australian rugby sevens superstar Charlotte Caslick as they gear up for the National Sevens Circuit campaign.
The Kakamega-based side took to its official pages to express its gratitude, highlighting the strong bond it has built with the Australian playmaker.
“We extend heartfelt gratitude to Australian rugby star Charlotte Caslick for her generous kit donation to the Kabbies (Kabras Ladies) as we gear up for the 7s season.
Your kindness has created lifelong friendships and loyal fans within the Kabbies and the entire Kabras Sugar Rugby Club family, who will be cheering you on every step,” Kabras RFC stated.
Caslick is widely regarded as one of the most decorated players in women’s rugby sevens. She was part of the Australian squad that clinched the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and has been a vital figure in Australia’s continued dominance in the sport.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, she briefly switched codes to rugby league, playing for the Sydney Roosters in the NRL Women’s Premiership.
However, she returned to rugby sevens in 2021 and played a crucial role in Australia’s gold medal triumph at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Caslick was also instrumental in Australia’s 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens victory in Cape Town, South Africa.
Her leadership skills and on-field prowess have earned her widespread recognition, and she was appointed captain of the Australian women’s sevens team for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Born in Brisbane, Caslick’s rugby journey started with Touch Football Australia before her international sevens debut in 2013.
Over the years, she has established herself as a key figure in the sport, often hailed as “the best women’s rugby sevens player on the planet.”
