Shujaa lost all their games in Hong Kong 7s, finishing joint last.
Following an abysmal tournament in Hong Kong where Shujaa failed to win a single game, former Kenya 7s skipper Andrew Amonde has revealed what is ailing the team.
Damian McGrath’s side finished joint last, collecting a single point from the tournament as they posted a torrid start to the HSBC World Sevens Series.
Amonde who called time on his sevens stint in national team colours back in 2020 noted that transition and lack of sponsors have seriously affected the team.
“There is a lot of transition going on in the team, there is a lot of pressure coming in and the team has not had a sponsor I think in the last five years.
All these things are catching up with the team, something needs to be done for the team so that they represent the country well out there,” said Amonde.
Shujaa hit an all-time low following the loss to newly promoted Uruguay as they are now drawn into an early relegation battle after surviving relegation by the skin of their teeth last season.
A myriad of issues has crippled the team most notably finances following reports that the players have gone months without being paid their allowances.
Kenya will be seeking redemption at the Dubai 7s that kicks off on Friday 2 December but they face a fiendish Pool after being paired against Australia, South Africa, and Great Britain.
