
African games: Morans pick wins against Tunisia, Ghana, fall to Uganda

The Kenyans have had a rollercoaster of performances since the Games began
Kenya 7s national team in Ghana, Accra for the African games brought their number of wins to three after seeing off Tunisia and hosts on Thursday at the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra.
They saw off Tunisia 40-7 before humbling Ghana 24-5 in the second match. They would then go down 21-14 to neighbours Uganda.
The Kenyans have had a rollercoaster of performances since the Games began.
They started their campaign on a low, suffering two consecutive losses to Burkina Faso (10-5), and Zimbabwe Cheetahs (27-22) in a closely contested match that was decided on sudden death.
Kenya vs Ghana
The Morans settled fast into the game, and within the first minute, they scored a try. The conversion attempt however fell short.
The try served as a wake-up call for the Ghanaians who fought tooth and nail to go past the Kenyans. Their efforts paid off when they scored their first try to see the scores tie at 5-5.
The Kenyans then responded with another try courtesy of George Ooro's maestro. The conversion attempt was successful to see the Kenyans lead at 12-7.
Following that, the Kenyans took advantage of the half-penalty presented to them by their opponents to score through Chrissant Ojwang who was set up by Cornelius Mokoro.
In the dying minutes of the match, Elvis Olukusi fend off defenders to go over for the team's final try.
In the closing moments of the game, Olukusi secured Kenya’s victory with a powerful display, fending off defenders before crossing over for a decisive try, sealing the team’s third consecutive win.
The side then ended their day with a narrow win against Uganda and will be hoping to bounce back in their consecutive matches.
