Young Javelin Sensation Caroline Anyango ready for Commonwealth Youth Games

The Games are set to take place in Trinidad and Tobago from the 4-11 of August 2023

After remarkable performance at the Africa Junior Championships in Zambia, where she clinched silver medal, Caroline Anyango, the young javelin sensation, is gearing up for the upcoming Commonwealth Youth Games.

The rising star has been training at the Kasarani Stadium for the past two weeks, and has shown remarkable progress in her throws, improving from an impressive 42 meters to 48 meters.

Anyango’s determination have been fueled by the inspiration she draws from javelin legend, Julius Yego.

Yego has been sparing time to grace Anyango’a training sessions, sharing tips and technique with the latter who is hoping to do well in the Games.

"I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to learn from someone as accomplished as Julius Yego. His guidance and mentorship have been instrumental in refining my skills and honing my technique," she said.

With her sights set on the Games, Anyango aspires to improve on her previous performance and etch her name in the annals of sporting history.

The young athlete banks on the mentorship from Yego to break the world record which stands at 72.28 metres.

The record was set in 2008 by Czech Republic’s Barbora Spotakova, a two-time Olympic and three-time world champion.

The Commonwealth Youth Games, set to take place in Trinidad and Tobago from the 4-11 of August 2023, with Swimming team set to depart on July 31.
