In the men's Premier League, Western Jaguars have emerged as the team setting the pace after an impressive run that has seen them climb to the summit with 17 points from nine matches.
The Kakamega-based side completed their first-leg fixtures on a high note, collecting four crucial points over the weekend to strengthen their position at the top of the standings.
Their campaign has been characterised by resilience qualities that were on display during the weekend, with a thrilling 3-3 draw against defending champions Warriors Hockey Club on Saturday before they returned to winning ways with a convincing 3-1 victory over Sikh Union Nairobi on Sunday in Kakamega.

Having completed more matches than most of their title rivals, Jaguars have thrown down an early marker in what is shaping up to be a fiercely contested championship race.
Despite occupying second place, Daikyo Heroes may currently be the best-positioned side in the title battle. The Mombasa-based outfit has collected 15 points from just seven matches, two fewer than Western Jaguars, leaving them only two points behind the leaders with two games in hand.
Sikh Union Nairobi remain firmly in the hunt with 14 points from eight matches. They have combined four victories with two draws to stay within touching distance of the leaders, although their recent defeat to Western Jaguars prevented them from closing the gap at the top.
Defending champions Warriors Hockey Club have endured a mixed start to their title defense. Three draws and a defeat from seven matches have left them fourth on the table with 12 points.
While the champions have shown their fighting spirit, particularly in coming from behind to rescue a point against Wazalendo, Kenya Police and Western Jaguars, they have struggled to convert performances into victories consistently.
Their narrow defeat to newly promoted Kisumu Youngstars further highlighted the competitive nature of this season's league.
Wazalendo have quietly established themselves among the early challengers. With 11 points from six matches, they sit fifth and remain well-positioned to climb further up the table as the season progresses.
Promoted Kisumu Youngstars continue to justify their place in the top tier. After earning promotion following a dominant Super League campaign in 2025, they have adapted well to Premier League hockey and currently sit sixth with 11 points from nine matches.
Their victory over defending champions Warriors demonstrated their ability to compete with established sides, while their positive start has reinforced the belief that they can avoid an immediate return to the second tier.

Parklands Sports Club occupy seventh position on 10 points and remains within striking distance of the teams above them. Their campaign has been characterised by inconsistency, but they have shown enough quality to suggest they can challenge for a top-half finish.
The lower half of the table is beginning to show signs of separation. Kenya Police have endured a difficult campaign, collecting just five points from seven matches despite suffering only two defeats. A league-high five draws have prevented them from turning competitive performances into victories.
USIU-A find themselves ninth with four points from seven matches, while newly promoted Green Sharks have experienced a brutal return to the Premier League.
The former top-flight side remains without a point after five consecutive defeats and possesses the league's worst defensive record with a goal difference of negative nine.
In the women's Premier League, former champions Blazers have emerged as the team to beat. Unbeaten after six matches, they lead the standings with 14 points following four victories and two draws.
Their impressive goal difference of 10 goals highlights both their attacking efficiency and defensive solidity, making them the early pace setters in the title race.
USIU-A Women sit second with 13 points from seven matches and remain the closest challengers to the leaders. Their unbeaten record has kept them firmly in contention, while their consistency has made them one of the most difficult teams to break down this season.
Defending champions Lakers, occupy third position with eight points from five matches. While they have not replicated the dominance that delivered last season's title, the Kisumu-based side remains well placed and could quickly close the gap on the leaders with positive results in their games in hand.
One of the most encouraging stories of the season has been the return of the University of Nairobi Vigilantes to the top tier. After securing promotion in dramatic fashion last season, the former Super League champions have adapted reasonably well and currently sit fourth with five points from five matches.

Amira Sailors share the same points tally as Vigilantes despite playing one match fewer. Their campaign has featured flashes of quality, while Strathmore University Women remain in contention despite occupying sixth position with four points.
Kisumu Queens have made a respectable start to life in the 2026 League - their second season at the top flight with three draws in their three matches played.
At the bottom end of the standings, Sliders, Kenyatta University and JKUAT Ladies are still searching for consistency. JKUAT remain without a point after their opening match, while Kenyatta University have collected just one point from two fixtures.
Although the season remains in its early stages, clear patterns are beginning to emerge. Western Jaguars and Blazers have established themselves as the teams currently leading the charge, while Daikyo Heroes and USIU-A Women appear best positioned to challenge for top honours.
At the same time, promoted sides such as Kisumu Youngstars and the University of Nairobi Vigilantes have shown enough promise to suggest they can compete at this level.
With plenty of fixtures still to come and several title contenders yet to face each other, the battle for supremacy in both Premier League competitions remains wide open.
