The law enforcers will face Western Jaguars in their next match slated for next Sunday

The Kenya Police men's hockey team head coach Patrick Mugambi has dedicated the point gained from their 1-1 draw against champions Butali Warriors on Saturday at City Park to his grieving assistant Kennedy Osikuku.

Police left it late to rescue the point from Butali who were leading 2-0 up to the fourth quarter but watched their advantage go up the air as Sammy Oungo struck twice from the spot inside the final six minutes.

Osikuku temporarily shelved his compassionate leave plan to bark instructions from the technical bench in the high-octane duel that saw both teams observe a moment of silence before kick off.

The tactician had laid his beloved daughter to rest on Saturday morning and put a brave face throughout the game and would pay a moving tribute to the fallen kin in the post match interview.

Mugambi hailed his charges for scooping something in the match that he noted went a long way in consoling his grieving assistant as well as maintained their unbeaten start.

"We dedicate the point gained from the tough game to the assistant coach who sadly lost his daughter. We didn't have a great game in the first three quarters but gave our best in the final one just for sake of one of us," he said.

With Police set to face Western Jaguars in their next match, Mugambi who noted that the sad news had affected their style of play said he would build on the fourth quarter display and shoot down the Kakamega based side.

" One of the reasons we had a sluggish start is the fact that our preparations were not okay but the good thing is recovered and bagged a point. I also missed three key players who were unavailable for selection for various reasons. We will face Jaguars who have proven an hard nut to crack but we will give our best shot, "he said.

Meanwhile, the ladies Premier League match pitting Amira Sailors and Sliders failed to live up to the expectation as the two teams battled for a barren draw at City Park on Sunday.
