Goro's men started the match on the right footing, taking the lead in a 7-2 score line thanks to four opening points from Frank Ogolla and three from Brian Odari as Eric Mutoro opened the scoring for Warriors.
The varsity side were done having the bragging rights on the court as they allowed the lethal Mutoro to score threw baskets in quick succession with an additional one from Byron ' skywalker' Mabonga for Warriors to assume lead for the first time in the match.
Moses Musembe managed five while Victor Murage managed a basket as Odari converted one free throw for 15 points in the first quarter against Warriors 28, having recovered from their slow start just in time.
William Balozi's Warriors were just getting started as they added 22 points in the second quarter while restricting Goro's charges to just four points, two from free throws, to head to the break with a 21-point lead.
Upon resumption, KCA-U seemed resigned to their fate as their efforts for a comeback proved futile. Warriors dominated the second half again in 18-10 and 28-13 outcomes for the 54-point win.
This was the highest scoring match since the 2021 season of the KBF league jumped off. While Warriors have won their three matches so far, KCA-U are still searching for a first win after playing three matches too.
"We struggled against the champions. They are a better side but our biggest undoing in the matches played so far is playing without a natural centre player. That is leaving us exposed and with no one to pick rebounds, they were getting the better of us both in offensive and defensive rebounds and earned easy points on the paint. I am hoping to sign a centre player to help address the challenge," said Goro.
In other matches played at Nyayo Strathmore Blades picked their second win of the season in a 65-41 outcome while Eldonets, playing away in Kisumu managed their first win in a 68-66 slim victory.
In the women's league, University of Nairobi Dynamites came from 15 points down in the first quarter and managed to claw back for a hard fought 55-53 win. Storms beat Strathmore Swords 54-42 in another women's league match.
