Victory for Kidiwa,Owino teams as Johnnie Walker preliminary series concludes

The top three finishers from both events are the final additions to the list of teams that are set to compete at the Series’ Eagles Round on 13 May at Muthaiga Golf Club

The team of Morris Njue, Victor Kidiwa, Paul Ichangi and Josiah Kogo are the winners of the 17th leg of the Johnnie Walker Golf Series played on Saturday at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club.

The quartet returned a combined score of 111 points to clinch the title, three more than the team of Humphrey Wattanga, Steve Lugalia, Sammy Itemere and Shadrack Ogindo who scored a combined 108 points to seal the second position.

Claiming the third position was the team of Dsouza Renato, Felix Ochieng Mark Okeyo and Sylvester Odhiambo who combined for a score of 102 points.

On to individual categories, handicap 20 Xilian Peng led the men's category ahead of handicap 15 David Mogore who came in second having scored similar points.

In the ladies category, handicap 41 Agnes Muchemi was the star after returning 43 points, beating Diana Mbuba (handicap 19) who scored 34 points on the day.

Meanwhile, in the Nines challenge, Joseph King’ora and Vijay Gidoomal were the champions in the first and second nine respectively.

In the Longest Drive challenge, James Kamenchu and Eunice Koome were the stars while Johnstone Kimanzi claimed the plaudits for the Nearest to the Pin challenge.

Away in Kisumu at the Nyanza Club, Griffins Owino led his team comprising of Julius Omollo, David Omollo, and Elizabeth Akinyi to carding 101 points to claim the top spot.

The team of Raju Bhayani, Bhupen Shah, Ajay Soni, and Bravan Patel came in second having returned a combined score of 100, beating the team of Joseph Atito, Tom Agumbi, James Onyango and Thomas Odongo on countback who claimed the second runners up spot.

Meanwhile, Jeremiah Onyach won the Men’s Category having scored 40 points, beating Noah Winja who returned 38 points.

In the ladies category, Rosemary Obara was the champion having scored 35 points, 5 points more than second-placed Vivian Amusala.

In the Nines, Joshua Ashioya and Dr. James Akhonya were the stars of the first and second nine having scored 23 and 19 points consecutively.

Finally, in the Longest Drive Challenge, David Mwaura and Rita Angote emerged top in the men and ladies categorizations as Martin Oduor claimed the Nearest to the Pin contest.

The three teams from both events are the final additions to the list of teams that are set to compete at the Series’ Eagles Round on 13 May at Muthaiga Golf Club.

They will be aiming to make the cut to play at the Grand Finale that is set for 20 May at the Karen Country Club where the winning team will win the ultimate prize; a trip to the iconic Gleneagles Golf Course in Scotland
