In one of their most memorable performances in recent years, the Victor Ochieng-led soldiers shot down National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) to lift the 2023/24 Cup title, but could not repeat the feat in the succeeding year's title, dethroned by Equity Bank HC.
After missing out of the 2024/25 league, their only saving grace for the season, finishing fourth, coach Ochieng says their focus has turned to getting a better start to the next season.
"We are really yearning for that Super Cup this time round," Ochieng told Mozzart Sport. "We had a good start to the just-concluded season but lost our momentum towards the end. Despite falling short on the league title, it has been a rebuilding chance as we have introduced a few new players who are gelling well with the rest and are expected to add to our depth in the new season."
The Super Cup is tentatively scheduled for August, paving the way for KHF’s first tiered league, with the top 12 finishers this season competing on a home-and-away basis.
The rest of the teams are set to form a second-tier league
"With the competitive season expected, we want to get a solid start and winning the Cup is key. It gives us confidence as we look to fight for the title. The new players and our experienced veterans present us a unique chance to get the elusive title," Ochieng added.
The Cup pits the top six teams, including league champions NCPB, second-placed Equity Bank who finished two points off the leaders, General Service Unit (GSU), Ulinzi and Strathmore.
