The hosts, Lakeside, are yet to pick a win in their four matches played so far.
Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) men's league champions Ulinzi Warriors play away to Kisumu Lakeside on Saturday as they look to extend their unbeaten run to five matches.
Coach William Balozi's charges are coming off a hard-fought 72-66 win against Strathmore Blades last Sunday. Their encounter against Lakeside is a repeat of their 2019 playoff quarters paring where the soldiers had to battle to the last minute for a 2-0 win in the best-of-three quarters.
For the Kisumu assignment, Balozi will miss the services of returning veteran forward Ancet Wafula and point guard Joseph Khaemba as well as Joseph Owino who are out injured.
"I am operating with a thin squad but they are doing the job. I missed Tiberious Menya in last weekend’s matches against Kenya College of Accountancy-University (KCA-U) and Bladesas he was out with a groin injury but he has made the trip to Kisumu. We do not take any opponent lightly so we will fight for that win," said Balozi.
The hosts, Lakeside, are yet to pick a win in their four matches played so far. Their last loss was a rather painful one as they led through the first three quarters of the match against Eldonets but the visitors put up a fight in the last period to win by a single basket.
Meanwhile, 2019 losing finalists Nairobi City Thunder face Embakasi Youth Basketball Association (EMYBA) who seem to be on an upward trajectory while Thunder are on a rebuilding path having lost some of their players. The Saturday afternoon fixture has all the indicators of a thriller with the battle between Thunder's shooting guard Griffin Ligare and EMYBA's scoring machine Eugene Adera likely to light up the match.
Other men's matches will see Umoja play the same EMYBA on Sunday while KCA-U tame on Kenyatta University(K.U) Pirates.
The women's league has Equity Bank Hawks playing their second match of the league against K.U Oryx on Saturday before the students play Storms on Sunday. Zetech University Sparks take on University of Nairobi's Dynamites in a Sunday morning clash.
