Munala is banking on both youth and experience in Tunisia.
African volleyball women’s club champions Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) leave the country early Wednesday 10 morning for Tunisia where they face a tough task of defending the title they won last year.
The Japheth Munala-coached side is banking on a mix of youth and experience to deliver the title as they do battle between 13 and 26 May. Experienced duo of opposite attacker Mercy Moim and middle blocker Edith Wisa who is set to captain the side are expected to provide the leadership needed for a successful title defense.

“We have a relatively young team with some players making their debut on that stage and that can be our strength or weakness. Regardless, we are targeting the title. Wisa and Moim will play key roles in the team but the rest of the squad has their part too,” Munala told the media during the team naming event held on Tuesday 9 May.
KCB head to the competition as champions but with a point to prove after falling to Kenya Pipeline in the national league.
In addition to Wisa and Moim, national team players Belinda Barasa, Immaculate Nekesa and the returning Esther Mutinda are expected to steady the ship for Munala in the face of tough opposition and the huge expectations.
Other players include Mildred Cherop, Lincy Jeruto, Shirleen Maiywa, Miriam Musa, Faith Cherotich, Magdalene Mwende and Josephine Wafula.
Munala believes that the team has what it takes to win another title, having undergone a rebuilding process since last year and participated in key tournaments to enhance their game.
“This competition provides a good test for us to measure our strength against the best clubs on the continent. I am certain it is not going to be easy because each team comes prepared for the showpiece, but we will put up our best fight ever,” KCB Group Director Marketing and Communications Rosalind Gichuru said.
