Kangango, the captain of the national women’s Floorball team last represented the country in the Charity International Tournament held in Kampala, Uganda on 27 to 30 December last year.
The 36-year-old, an accountant at NITA, featuring for the same team in the local league and a Masters student at Kenyatta University, was found murdered and her badly deformed body dumped in Jamhuri estate in Nairobi. She had gone missing on 19 March.
The post mortem, conducted in April, revealed that her death was due to excessive bleeding due to stabbing as her body had a deep stab wound in the chest.
“This is a one-off tournament being funded by the NITA team and shall also be used to gauge the preparedness of the provisional list of players selected for the national team.
We invite everyone to come and be part of this memorial tournament as we celebrate June’s achievements on the floorball court,” Kelvin Akosombo told MichezoAfrika.
The top teams will be feted with trophies while players stand a chance of winning individual awards during the tournament.
The Saturday matches shall be staged at the International Christian Center before switching to KEWI on Sunday for the final matches.
