The boys' defending champions outclassed Malava while Kwathanze walloped Kesogon 3-0
Cheptil Boys and Kwanthanze Girls successfully defended their volleyball titles at the 2025 KSSSA National Term Two Games, asserting their dominance in emphatic fashion during the finals at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST).
In a highly anticipated boys’ final, defending champions Cheptil made light work of Malava Boys with a commanding 3-0 win (25-15, 25-14, 25-22) to secure their seventh national title.

Malava, whose last title came in 2018, were outclassed for large stretches of the match despite pockets of resistance in the third set.
Cheptil’s fluidity and tactical discipline proved decisive, and they now close the gap on the all-time leaderboard where St. Patrick’s Iten remains unmatched with 17 national titles, including an unmatched streak of 14 consecutive wins between 1971 and 1984.
The girls’ final saw a repeat of last year’s clash between Kwanthanze and Kesogon Girls, but unlike the tense battle of 2024, this edition was one-sided. Kwanthanze, coached with precision and driven by experience, cruised to a dominant 3-0 win (25-17, 25-6, 25-16).
The Eastern region volleyball queens, who were crowned champions in 2024, have now won their seventh national title, further cementing their place among the greats. Kesogon, the 2023 champions, appeared overwhelmed by Kwanthanze’s relentless pace and pressure, particularly in the second set where they managed just six points.
In the bronze medal matches, Sulumeti Girls edged Soweto 3-2 (21-25, 25-17, 19-25, 25-15, 15-13) in a rollercoaster contest to take third place. In the boys’ playoff, Coast representatives Mwaluphamba staged a strong comeback to defeat Gogo 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-22), rounding off their campaign on a high.
Basketball 3x3: BuruBuru and Sigalame Claim Glory
In the basketball 3x3 finals held at the Police Canteen, Sigalame Boys capped their dream run with a hard-fought 21-17 victory over Pioneer School.
In the girls’ final, BuruBuru Girls proved too strong for Tigoi, pulling away for a dominant 15-2 victory. Their defensive cohesion and superior fitness overwhelmed Tigoi, who struggled to find offensive rhythm throughout the game.
