Adhiambo, who was overlooked by the national team selectors for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and the FIVB Women’s World Championships last year is expected to break into the team for this year's assignments.
Hard hitting Kenya Pipeline left attacker Pamela Adhiambo says she is not in a hurry to take up any professional deals that are coming her way even as many think she is ripe for such an opportunity.
Adhiambo was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) at last month's Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) women's league playoffs, having guided her side to lifting the title the oil merchants had last won in 2017.
As the team prepares for the CAVB Africa Club Championships set tentatively for either March or April, Adhiambo says her focus is on helping Pipeline dominate the African scene while also concentrating on completing her degree course.
"Winning the national title and the MVP award is sweet. This has opened alot of doors and opportunities and I am marvelling at what the future holds.
Right now the focus is on the African Championships where we have set our target on reaching the final. We finished third last year, but we want to do better this year," said the Nyakach Girls alumnus.
Having featured in the under-20 national team in 2019 where her star begun to shine and Pipeline snapped her before all the other suitors could, Adhiambo says her game has improved tremendously and winning the national title and the personal award are just the beginning.
"My plan is to play at a higher level but I am in no hurry to play professional right now. I take my studies just as seriously as I do my playing career and I am looking to graduate first from the Cooparative University with a degree in Commerce before I can go pro," Adhiambo, a third year student explains.
