The side is also preparing to make their debut at the CAVB Club Championships set for Tunisia in May.

A five-set thriller played on Sunday 12 March at Nyayo Indoor Arena saw Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) men's league bronze medalists Trailblazers get back to winning ways.

The Geoffrey Omondi-led side was playing Equity Bank in their seventh match of the season, coming from two sets down for a 3-2 ( 21-25, 27-29, 25-23,25-21, 15- 11) win.

The tactician admits that ig took mental strength for his charges to beat the bankers and remains hopeful that they will build on that win moving forward.

"I am well aware that there are calculations to be done on who makes it to the top four for the playoffs but the focus now is on winning the remaining matches," offered Omondi.

This is the side's third win in seven matches, their second having come this weekend courtesy of a walkover against the no-show Vihiga. Before that, the Ruaraka-based side had lost all three matches in the second leg as well as their Saturday match against Prisons Kenya.

"I could be one of the lucky teams because I am almost done facing off with the giants in the league. I will make sure I get maximum points in the remaining matches.

I know all the teams have improved massively. We had to fight for our lives against Equity, a team we beat 3-1 last season, so it will not be easy wins but we are prepared to put in the work," Omondi added.

After his loss to former champions Prisons Kenya, the tactician was proud of the team's performance, saying that he could see progress.

"Prisons Kenya beat us with experience but what made me happy is that my players gave their all and were doing the right thing on the court," he said, adding that he has to win the remaining matches and while that gives him alot of pressure, he is prepared for it all.

The tactician says the young players in the team have shown massive improvement and he is happy with their growth, tipping the side to have a strong squad in the near future.

General Service Unit (GSU) continue to dominate the league and are ahead after six matches.

The Gideon Tarus-led side picked a straight-sets victory over Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and sixth points off two walkovers against Prisons Mombasa and Central.

While GSU remain the only unbeaten side so far, other teams have shown massive improvement with Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) continuing their winning streak to place second on 18 points from six wins. The military side has lost one match so far.

Also on 18 points are former champions Prisons Kenya who picked maximum points this weekend after defeating Equity Bank, Trailblazers and Prisons Rift Valley. Their only loss came in the second leg against holders GSU.
