The qualifiers are set for 21-29 August in Pretoria, South Africa.
National women’s netball team head coach Joseph Makau has gone for a mix of youth and experience while naming a squad of 15 that is set to head for residential training ahead of the team's travel to South Africa.
The side, named Divas, is preparing for the World Cup qualifiers set for Pretoria from 21 to 29 in August where Kenya will be chasing a ticked to next year's World Cup that will be hosted in Cape Town.
Divas have been in non-residential training for about a month with 23 in the provisional squad under coach Makau who also had help from Ugandan coaches.
"It is never easy to whittle down a team that you have worked with for quite some time but we can only have a travelling squad
We, however, had to go for players that are versatile and can feature in more than one position, they also had to be fit enough to play all the matches we are scheduled to play," said coach Makau.
The technical bench is expected to cut down the team to 12 who will travel to Pretoria where ten nations are set to play in the qualifiers, with Kenya chasing a maiden appearance at the global event.
"We also had to balance between experience and the youthful players. Giving a chance to the younger players who have shown the ability to perform at this level ensures continuity of the team on our part," added Makau.
