Teams will earn points and be ranked both nationally and through Internationally moving forward.

Kenya Volleyball Federation's (KVF) opening leg of an anticipated eight-event national beach volleyball tour serves off on Saturday 23 October 2021 at Mbita Tourist Beach Hotel in Homabay County.

The two-day event is the first of four legs of the FIVB homologated national tour. The global governing body has already sanctioned the four events scheduled for the first half of the 2021/22 season set to run until April next year.

"Homabay is the opening round with the other three legs scheduled for Makueni, Mombasa and Nairobi Counties between now and April next year.

When the first leg is concluded we will apply to have four more events sanctioned by FIVB and schedule them between April.and August when the season is expected to end," explained national team head coach who doubles as the beach volleyball organising committee's secretary Sammy Mulinge

Six women's teams and eight men's teams drawn from the national league clubs have already confirmed participation with the organisers hoping to get to the 16-team minimum requirement for each gender when schools and self sponsored clubs confirm.

Kenya Pipeline women's club have three pairs entered for this edition while KCB have one and two pairs from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) according to Mulinge. For the self supporting clubs, Homabay, Flamingo Ladies and Namwela Youth Club have confirmed.

"We are still waiting for more teams from the national league clubs to confirm. This being the first edition, we do not want to lock anyone out so we extended the deadline for registration to Friday evening. We are hopeful the minimum requirements will be achieved," he added.

Being an homologated event, teams will earn points and be ranked both nationally and through Internationally moving forward.

Kenya was represented in women's beach volleyball for the first time at the Summer Olympics this year where the duo of Brackcides Agala and Gaudencia Makokha suited up for the country.

Mulinge has been at the fore front of calling for a better national circuit to attract more players to the sport and better Kenya's chances at the continental and international level.
