Nairobi Basketball league set for April tip off

A trophy presentation ceremony for the 2022 league is scheduled for 8 April.

Previously scheduled to start on the weekend of 25 March, the Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) league has now been scheduled to tip off on 15 April.

NBA chairman Ronnie Owino says the push has been necessitated by the need for teams to pay their league fees before the start of the season.

The league, that is home to almost 30 men's teams and 20 in the women's league is largely composed of self sponsored and school (secondary and college) teams.

Owino says the league's start on 15 April is also largely pegged on the response of teams as NBA is required to pay Strathmore University a certain amount of money before being allowed to use the two courts at their Madaraka-based Complex.

The league will be preceded a free-for-all referees clinic set for 23 and 24 March at the varsity grounds.

Having not held their annual award ceremony at the conclusion of the 2022 league, a trophy presentation ceremony cum Annual General Meeting (AGM) is set for 8 April, paving way for the new season.

Kariobangi-based Moischers and Stanbic Aces were crowned champions last season.
