The varsity side face a wounded Titans this weekend as Job Munene's men chase a second victory.

Strathmore Blades' skipper Samuel Mulinge remains hopeful that the varsity side will put last weekend's woes behind them and fight to end the first leg on a winning note.

Up against Equity Dumas and Africa Nazarene University (ANU) Wolfpacks last weekend, the Tony Ochieng-led Blades went down by 18 points in a 72-54 outcome against the bankers before losing by 24 against Wolfpacks in a 71-47 blowout.

This weekend, Ochieng's charges get a chance to redeem themselves when they take on Zetech Titans at the Nyayo Indoor Arena.

"It was a tough weekend for the team. We were outmatched in the two matches and lost by huge margins. However, this is the first leg and I am confident we will make a comeback," offered Mulinge.

He continued, "We conceded many points on second-chance balls as the two teams out-rebounded us. Our boxing out needs to be worked on as we look to end the first leg on a high."

The skipper maintains that the varsity side is still on course for a playoff slot despite losing four matches in the nine played.

"The back-to-back losses do not necessarily dent our chances of containing the regular league. We still have two matches left in the first leg and victory in said matches will put us in a better position as we head to the second leg.

The season is still young. This is a marathon. We still have a return leg to play and I believe in my players' ability to bounce back for a better second leg. We will definitely make it to the playoffs," added Mulinge.

This weekend, Blades face a wounded Titans. The Job Munene-led men who gained promotion to the top tier league this season have managed a single win in ten matches played so far and will be out to close their first leg out on a positive note.
