The team was set to go up against tough opposition in group D that has the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Egypt and Senegal

Despite the willingness of the FIBA basketball to help Kenya Morans to honour the World Cup qualifiers in Egypt, the team will not travel for the showpiece.

Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Secretary General (SG) Ambrose Kisoi, while confirming the development to Mozzart Sport said the federation is unable to secure seat spaces for the team to travel to Cairo.

The world governing body had offered to extend its help through financing the team's travel while the federation was to game care of accommodation and any other expenses.

Morans were scheduled to play DRC on Friday 1 July at the Alexandria Arena in the first of three matches the East African had to win to stand a chance at World Cup qualification.

A clash against hosts Egypt and Senegal on Saturday and Sunday were to follow.

With this development, the country is likely to suffer sanctioned by the governing body but Kisoi remains hopeful FIBA will remain lenient in view of the circumstances.
