Mandonga will instead faceUgandan boxer Keneth Lukyamuzi on March 25
The rematch fight between popular Tanzanian boxer Karim Mtu Kazi Mandonga and Kenyan middleweight Daniel Wanyonyi set for Saturday April 1 has been postponed to 30 April 2023, match promoters Solid Rock Promotions confirmed on Thursday evening.
The announcement comes in the wake of Mandonga securing a separate fight with Ugandan boxer Keneth Lukyamuzi scheduled for March 25 at the Kasarani Gymnasium in Nairobi.
“We as Solid Rock Promotions are sad to announce the postponement of another international event that was set to be held on the 1st April 2023. The event has been pushed to the 30th April 2023,” Solid Rock Promotions CEO Mike Odongo said in a press release on Thursday. “Reasons are we had the boxer Karim Mandonga on our fight card and he had signed a contract with us for the same, but he later went ahead and signed another contract with Tanzanian Promoter, Peak Times, for their event to be held on the 25th March 2023 at Kasarani Stadium,” Odongo added in the letter.
KPBC is contemplating legal action against Tanzanian boxer Karim "Mtu Kazi" Mandonga over breach of contract.

As Mozzart Sport had earlier reported on Wednesday, the Kenya Professional Boxing Commission had resulted into taking legal action on Mandonga for ‘breach of contract’, something Solid Rock Promotions confirmed they had taken off the table so as ‘our Kenyan boxers on the fight card for the 25th March are able to pursue their careers.’
“We have instructed our lawyers to stop the legal action that we had begun,” Solid Rock Promotions confirmed.
To the Kenya Professional Boxing Commission (KPBC), Odongo, urged the officials to refrain from sanctioning such ‘absurdities’ saying, “ We would like to urge the governing body of Professional boxing in Kenya (KPBC), that should such a case be brought to their attention in future, they should not accept nor sanction such absurdities. This action would have an adverse effect in a sense that promoters like ourselves will shy away from promoting boxing events in future yet we have a good opportunity to take boxing to the heights that it was in yesteryears,”
Solid Rock however, confirmed that they would announce a future event that will involve the boxers from the April 1 fight card that include: Fatuma Zarika,Morris Okolla, Raymond Ochieng’ and Nick Mwangi.
