Lionesses forward Mercy Wanyama joins Lithuania’s BC Krepsino Siaulai

Kenya Lionesses forward Mercy Wanyama has joined Lithuania’s BC Krepsino Siaulai on a year-long deal.

Wanyama has been unattached since calling time on her stint with Spanish club Club Mariscos Anton Cortegada following the conclusion of the regular season in May.

She left the Spanish club following the expiry of her two-year long contract.

DC Sports Agency, that manages Wanyama announced that she had accepted a move to Lithuania ahead of the new season.

We excited to announce that we have signed our Kenyan International All Star center Mercy Wanyama (185cm F/C ) to a one-year deal in Lithuania with BC Krepsino Siaulai for the upcoming 2023-2024 season,” read a communication from the agency.

Wanyama had featured for another Spanish club Adba Aviles before crossing to Cortegada.

The 2016 women’s Premier League Most Valuable Player played for Equity Hawks, Zetech and Storms locally before moving to Spain in 2018.

One of the most decorated African/Cotonou players with several participations in FIBA international tournaments and AfroBasket with Kenyan senior Women’s national team and for the past couple years played in Spain . This past season she averaged 12.9 ppg, 9.2 rpg, shooting 50%FG overall. Special skill set, plays with a lot tenacity and outstanding basketball,” read some statistics from the agency.

She was named in the Eurobasket.com All-Spanish LF2 Awards second team, during awards held on 12 May this year.
