Lakers climb to third with eleven points from seven matches, including three wins, two draws, and two losses.

Lakers Hockey Club beat visiting Amira Sailors 2-0 in the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Women's Premier League fixture played at Kisumu Day High School on Saturday to compound their woes.

Debra Otieno opened the scoring early in the second quarter after a frustrating first stanza characterized by missed scoring chances.

Eustla Cherotich doubled the lead in the 54th minute to seal the big win. The Lakers have now won three matches in seven outings. "It was a tough match, but the girls were determined to win, they showed a lot of grit in the face of stiff opposition from Amira," Lakers Team Manager John Paul Otieno told Mozzart Sport.

The Kisumu-based side take to the field early Sunday morning for their second match of the weekend against Sliders at the same venue. "We're not slowing down, and the girls are pumped up, we will be going for another, and I know we're capable, we only need to forget about today's result and fully focus on the Sliders," Otieno added.

Amira remain win-less this season in ten matches, managing five draws and an equal number of losses. Lakers on the other hand climb to third with eleven points from seven matches, including three wins, two draws, and two losses.
