Reading Time: 2min | Fri. 24.05.24. | 14:37

The playoffs have adopted a knock-out format, beginning with a best-of-three quarters

Former Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) women's league champions Kenya Pipeline and holders Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) are a win a away from the 2024 Playoff semis.

Heading to the best-of-three quarters as favourites, the two sides lived up to expectations winning by straight-sets against Post Bank and Kenya Army.

African bronze medalists, Pipeline women's team overwhelmed Post Bank 3-0(25-12, 25-12, 25- 19) and will look to complete the job on Saturday in Game Two slated for Nyayo National Stadium from 11 am.

"Post Bank are a side one cannot underate and that is the attitude we are taking to Game Two. The playoffs have just begun and the quarters matches are helping us identify weak areas as we look to seal all loopholes in anticipation of the semis and final," Pipeline's libero Agripina Kundu told Mozzart Sport after the match.

The long serving player says the Oilers are leaving nothing to chance in their quest to reclaim the title they lost to nemesis KCB. With a likelihood to meet in the final, Kundu maintains they have what it takes to defeat the holders.

"We lost our last league match to KCB but we are confident of overturning that result should we meet in the final. The loss worked in our favour as we got to see what we needed to work on well in time for the playoffs. We will be ready for the dog fight," Kundu added.

Meanwhile, defending champions KCB defeated Kenya Army 3-0(25-10,25-15,25- 18) to move closer to the semis.

"We had a good game but we can do better. As the competition advances we will look to improve on our blocking and be more aggressive on attack," KCB's attacker Juliana Namutira told Mozzart Sport.

In another match, former champions Prisons Kenya edged Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) by straight-sets of 3-0 (25-10, 25-18, 25-19) as Prisons Nairobi denied Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) a clean win in a 3-1 (25-17,25-17, 22-25, 25-18) outcome.
