In the afternoon match, Simuyu's charges had fun on the court as their opponents Hon. Amin from North Eastern had no reply to their prowess.as they went on to win 55-03 to book a place in the semis set for Sunday with a match, against Eastern's Simisi, to spare.
"Our eyes are set on not only reclaiming the national title but going all the way to defend our East Africa School Games title we won in 2019 in Arusha.
Our preparations have been challenging this year as there were alot of breaks and stoppages that affected our training but we are here to fight for that ticket despite the competition," offered Simiyu.
In 2019, Kamusinga lost the national title to St Joseph's Kirandich but managed to beat the same side to the East African title.
In the absence of the national defending champions who were eliminated at the regional final by St Joseph's Kitale, Simiyu is keen to avoid another upset and go all the way.
"From the first match we played against Dagoretti, my girls were not settled. We have to work on their aggressiveness on attack as I know the games get tougher with each match. We still have a match to play in the group stage so we are not jumping the gun, we will take it one game at a time," added Simiyu.
Meanwhile, St Joseph's Kitale won their opening match 25-12 against Kakrao from Nyanza Region and added a a 41-12 victory against Coast region's Dungicha to book a place in the semis with a match to spare as well.
In the boys' category, holders Kimilili Secondary made easy work of Dungicha, winning their opening match 34-11 to opening their wins in a tough pool B that has all the favourites.
