Teams are not only in a race for the title but also for top six finish.
Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) former champions Ulinzi HC, second on the log as the race for the men’s league title shapes up, are one of the favourites to clinching this season's title.
However, skipper Gideon Kiprotich, speaking before the two-week break urged the team not to be complacent in their quest for the elusive title.
Ulinzi came from.behind in their last outing to beat school boys Inspired 38-28 for a seventh-consecutive victory that puts the military side level on points with holders National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB), separated by goal difference.
"We will need to work on our defense as that troubled in our last match. I cannot say we underrated Inspired since we take every game seriously and that is how we will handle the other matches.
We are on an unbeaten run and we look to keep that going. There has not been alot of changes to the team that played last season to finish fifth in the regular league.
However, our approach has changed and there is no complacency while facing any team. We will fight for this title," offered Kiprotich.
After seven rounds NCPB lead the standings at 14 points similar to Ulinzi's but the millers have a 136 goal difference while the military side has 91 goal difference.
Black Mamba are third at 12 points from six wins and complete the list of the unbeaten sides.
Varsity side Strathmore suffered their first loss in the hands of Inspired Boys jn their last outing before the break to become first top four side to drop points. The Peter Mwathi-led side are fourth on 12 points from seven matches.
General Service Unit (GSU) complete the top five places at eight points from four wins in five matches. The paramilitary side lost to Strathmore in their only registered defeat so far.
Teams are not only in a race for the title but also for top six finish in the regular season so as to get a chance to feature in the Super Cup, a playoff tournament that features the top six men's teams at the conclusion of the league.
