The two sides remain unbeaten after wins against National Cereals and Produce Board and Rangers Women in the four-team competition
Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) Women's League champions Ulinzi Sharks are on a hunt for a maiden Super Cup title when they take on holders Nairobi Water.
The Sunday, August 11, match slated for noon will see Jack Ochieng's Water go to battle without four of their key players.
Water, who lost the league title for the first time in a decade as the 2024 season concluded, are keen to start the 2024/25 season with silverware, among others their captain Gladys Chilo.
"She (Chilo) has been unwell for about six weeks now and was out on bed rest. We missed her in the initial matches of this Cup last weekend, and that is a blow.
Also unavailable are Brenda Musambai, Brenda Ariviza, and Mitchelle Oyoo. They are key to the team's success, but their absence gives other players the opportunity to step up and deliver for the team," coach Ochieng told Mozzart Sport ahead of the match.
Water went into the final league match against the Sharks without three of the above players, with Chilo the only one to feature, and ended up relinquishing the title.
Coach Ochieng, however, is determined to prove that his squad is still able to win without the said players.
"We have had a strategy that has worked so far, and I am confident we will defend this cup. Our pre-season training has relied exclusively on this group, so we have managed to gel well and are ready for Sharks," he added.
On their part, the Sharks, under coach Victor Otieno, will hope for a repeat of the league final.
