NCPB men and Nairobi Water Queens are the men and women’s champions.
The 2022/23 Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) leagues are set to commence in a fortnight with the format expected to change from round-robin to home and away matches for the men's league.
In the last few seasons, the men's league has accommodated all and sundry with teams going to as many as 22 with no promotion or relegation for any teams as the federation is yet to launch lower-tier leagues.
The women's league has, however, experienced the opposite as not more than nine teams have been involved in the last few seasons. The women's league has been running on a home and away format.
Organisers had hinted at a lean field for this season's league involving not more than 16 teams in the men's league and the format moved to home and away basis. All the matches are, however, scheduled to be played at Nyayo Handball Court.

So far, 14 teams have registered for the men's league with eight going for the women's competition. A technical meeting between the federation and club managers and coaches is expected before the league throw off.
"We expect to meet the managers to streamline a few things, top of the agenda being the new rules introduced by IHF and how to ensure a smooth transition. We are also looking at having a lower-tier league for the teams that will not be able to participate in the top league," offered fixtures secretary Charles Omondi.

National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) and Nairobi Water Queens won both the men and women’s league titles as well as the pre-season tournament Cup title and are looking to have another dominant season.
