Both sides are in Pool A of Thursday's games where they will face Tunisia and Algeria
Kenya Women’s U23 3x3 basketball team secured their second victory in the ongoing Africa Nations Cup (Northern Conference) after claiming Stop 4 on Wednesday night in Algiers, Algeria.
The win, the second in the four stops held so far since 28 July, puts Kenya ahead of the women’s standings, and with only two legs left till the competition comes to a close on 3 August 2023.

The run-in was however not smooth sailing, as the now accustomed quartet of Madina Okot, Esther Minayo, Mary Lisa Omondi, and Mary Ann Nyagaki stormed to a 22-15 win against Algeria in their first Pool A match, before falling to Egypt 21-11, but enough to book a place in the final against Tunisia.
The Africa Beach Games silver medalist made their experience count after all, emerging 22-15 winners, and huge thanks to Okot - who contributed eight points - with the duo of Minayo and Omondi adding five points each, one more than Nyagaki put up.
Starting out as four seeds, another win for the Kenyan side should see them secure a place in the World Championships finals slated for September in Mongolia.
As for the men’s side however, the search for their first win persisted as they once again on Wednesday failed to secure a win, succumbing first to Egypt - 16-14 - before a 20-15 defeat to Algeria.
Overall, they were ranked fifth out of six countries, edging out Benin due to a higher points average.
Thursday’s action will see both the men’s and women’s teams take on Tunisia and Algeria in their respective Pool A matches, with action culminating in the finals later in the night.
