Fresh from his victory at the Ronald Marshall & Tobby Gibson Cup at Njoro Country Club last weekend, Elvis Muigua will headline a strong field of more than 100 elite amateurs as the hunt for a new champion continues, following the absence of defending champion John Lejirma, who has since turned professional.

The field features some of the region’s top amateurs, including Adel Balala, William Odek, Uganda’s Joseph Kasozi, Elly Barno, Rwanda’s Felix Dusabe, and John Kamaisi, who sits second in the 2026 KAGC rankings.

The women’s field will be led by Kellie Gachaga, Mercy Nyanchama, and home golfer Emma Pennington.

At the top of the standings, Jay Sandhu leads the 2026 KAGC leaderboard with 560.00 points, followed by Kamaisi on 373.20. Junaid Ayaz Manji is third with 349.52 points, just ahead of Muigua in fourth on 347.26, while Amos Odongo completes the top five on 326.29 points.

Elsewhere, the NCBA Golf Series continues with the Moi Air Base Mug set for Saturday, 30 May, while the NCBA Faldo Junior Tour Kenya Championship will run from Saturday, 30 May to Monday, 1 June.

More than 80 golfers are expected at Moi Air Base, where they will compete for top honours and qualification slots for the season-ending Grand Finale.

NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora highlighted the bank’s integrated development approach to the sport, noting the importance of linking junior and elite levels.

“This is yet another weekend where we have activities from the junior level to the elite amateur level… Junior development is a core part of NCBA’s sponsorship strategy,” Gachora said.

This Series is a platform where young talent is discovered, nurtured and celebrated, and we look forward to a good weekend.”

Qualification to the Grand Finale, scheduled for November 27 at Karen Country Club, will be earned by the Overall Gross Winner, Men’s Gross Winner, Lady Gross Winner, Division 2 Men Winner, Division 2 Lady Winner, Division 3 Winner, and the leading Junior.
