Japheth Munala's KCB play Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) on Saturday, 27 February before their clash against Pipeline on Sunday afternoon.
As the second leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league serves off at various venues across the country, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) have another herculean task ahead as they face off with former champions Kenya Pipeline in the women's league set to be played at Nyayo Indoor Arena.
Japheth Munala's KCB play Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) on Saturday, 27 February before their clash against Pipeline on Sunday afternoon.
On paper, KCB are the favourites in the two clashes but Pipeline is likely to pose the biggest challenge to the bankers. The two sides last met during the 2019 playoff at Kasarani Indoor Arena and KCB bagged maximum points as they went on to finish the league in second place behind winners Prisons Kenya.
However, Sunday's match is slightly different as KCB have recruited heavily ahead of the season while Pipeline are likely to have some of their players who missed the 2019 playoffs due to injury suit up for the Sunday meet.
Munala says the team is prepared for the weekend action as they look to rectify the errors they made in their first leg encounter against Prisons, a match they lost 3-1.
“We lost an important match but have gone back to the drawing board and worked on our shortcomings in that loss. I am confident my players will handle this weekend’s matches better as we have prepared well. I am confident we are going to win both matches," Munala offered.
KCB have been spared from injury and all players will be available for selection. Team captain Noel Murambi retaliated that the squad is prepared for the two matches and are working hard in training ready to give their all on the floor.
