KBF Playoffs: KPA sides headline Day Two action

The Dockers whitewashed KU Pirates 82-51 in last weekend's round of regular season matchups

Kenya Basketball Federation defending champions in both men’s and women’s division Kenya Ports Authority will on Saturday afternoon begin their charge towards reclaiming their titles as the playoff matchups enter Day Two in various arenas around the country.

In the men’s division, KPA will lock horns with Kenyatta University Pirates at the Nyayo Stadium Gymnasium from 2000 EAT with the women’s side sizing up against JKUAT Lynx at the same venue at 1400 EAT.

The Dockers will hope that Saturday’s results will be a replication of the performances they registered last weekend as the women’s side drubbed JKUAT Lynx 81-21 with Sam Kiki’s side seeing off varsity side KU Pirates 82-51.

"With all due respect to the other teams in the league, I believe we are the team to beat and favorites to defend the title,” KPA women’s side head coach Anthony Ojukwu told Mozzart Sport recently when asked about the team’s title aspirations.

“I have the depth, with the return of Hilda Indasi who has been away and the signing of Ifunaya Okoro as well as Hilda Ndengwa."

Both KPA sides have a combined 21 Kenya Basketball Federation championships between the and will get the opportunity to host the next game of the series back home in Mombasa.

In another men’s division tie on Saturday, third placed side out of the regular season Ulinzi Warriors will take on sixth placed Eldonets Platinum in Eldoret after the former champions registered 38 points from their 16 quins this season.

In the Friday night action at the Nyayo Gymnasium, second seeds Equity Dumas kicked off their post season campaign on a high as they saw out University of Nairobi Terror 87-68 while Nairobi City Thunder saw off Strathmore Blades 64-57 to take control of Game One.
