The uniform from the first game of the final series with Utah Jazz in 1998 will be auctioned between September 6 and 14

During his playing career he brought one NCAA title to the University of North Carolina, six NBA rings to the Chicago Bulls and two Olympic medals to the United States of America. Even while he was an active basketball player, Michael Jordan earned a huge fortune, but thanks to contracts with him, the companies that hired arguably the best basketball player ever for advertising campaigns also profited many times over.

Although he has been retired from playing for a long time - a little less than two decades - Jordan still earns millions for himself, but mostly for the Nike company, which 37 years after the establishment of the Jordan brand reaches record sales of items with the flying silhouette of the famous basketball player.

And because of that - the owners of the things he used to wear, are trying to get rich - and are very successful at it.

The last one who will earn a huge amount of money will be the current owner of Jordan's jersey from the first game of his last NBA Finals in 1998 with the Utah Jazz (the Bulls lost 88-85 after overtime, and MJ scored 33 points) that will be auctioned the prestigious house of Sotheby's.

"The 1997-1998 season is perhaps one of the most popular among Jordan fans, as Michael was at his peak while simultaneously trying to achieve what he realized would be his last chance in the NBA with Chicago," said Brahm Wachter, one of the heads of Sotheby's. "That season is his sporting masterpiece and a testament to him as a champion and competitor. Jordan jerseys from the Finals are extremely scarce, and the 1998 Finals jerseys are probably the most coveted merchandise."

According to the first estimates, the mentioned jersey could reach a record price of 5 million dollars at the auction between September 6 and 14.

A pair of Nike Airships that Jordan wore in a game on November 1, 1984 - shortly before the model bearing his last name was made - got sold at auction in October 2021 for 1.47 million dollars, a world record for auction sale of sneakers.

However, the absolute record in the auction sale of sporting goods is held by Maradona's jersey from the 1986 World Cup, won by Argentina. In May of this year, it was sold to an anonymous buyer for as much as 9.3 million dollars.
