History! That was the theme of the Kenyan Roll Ball team as for the second time in a couple of days, the Kenyan national anthem was being played for the team at the top spot - this time, the men’s national roll ball side as they went on to clinch their maiden Roll Ball World Cup in a 7-4 demolition over the hosts - India at the Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Balewadi in Pune, India on Wednesday night.
Having failed in their last five attempts, it was Kenya’s time to shine during the week long 6th Roll Ball World Cup finals as Martin Abunde’s side ripped the cards to claim double golds and in iconic fashion.

Kenya began the day with a record win in the tournament - whitewashing Latvia 14-1 in the semifinals - and never looked back once they got to the stage against India.
The world’s number three ranked side got into the lead early on to lead 4-2 at halftime and despite India’s best efforts to claw back, Kenya extended their lead in the second period, making a 4-0 run that saw them clinch the prestigious title for the first time having finished second in 2019.
The win was sweeter for Kenya in the sense that they had managed to do a double gold haul in a matter of hours.
The Kenyan women's side on Tuesday afternoon claimed gold in an exhilarating 5-0 win over African rivals Egypt to win their second World Cup title on the bounce. Kenya’s Angela Kithinji was named the woman of the match in the final.
The journey to the final was a seamless one for the men’s team as they ran over all their opponents in Pool B, to staging wins over Egypt (7-4) and Latvia (14-1) in the quarters and semi final stages.
Runners-up India won the silver medal while Senegal came in third to win bronze.
