GSU,KPA and Kenya Prisons were set to represent the country but the warders have since withdrawn their participation.
Kenya's representatives to this year’s Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) men's club championship, General Service Unit (GSU), are set to fly out to Tunisia on Friday, 16 April, ahead of the continental showpiece that throws off on April 18.
Coach Gideon Tarus believes his charges are ready for action, having made the best out of the last three weeks when sporting activities have been suspended for final preparations to the championship.
"We are ready. The suspension of sporting activities denied us a chance to play some friendly matches ahead of the Club duty but we used the chance granted to continue preparations well. We started the season slowly and needed to pick up the pace of our game and I am glad the players are back to their normal game.

When we could not access Nyayo Indoor Arena after sporting activities were suspended we switched to gym work before getting an alternative training ground. We have been using an indoor facility at our Embakasi base and despite being smaller than Nyayo or even Kasarani, it has served us and we did not have yo train outdoors. For now, we are just fine tuning our reception and service. Otherwise, our game is at its best," Tarus offered.
GSU, the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) defending champions will travel to Tunisia alongside Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) who are making their debut at the continental championship. The two sides landed the tickets to the showpiece after finishing in first and second place in the 2019 KVF league respectively.

Coach Tarus is hoping to improve on the team's ninth place finish in the last edition and has set an ambitious target of reaching the semi final of the 24-team competition.
"I will be naming my final squad of 14 on Thursday, 15 April. We leave on 16 April. A technical meeting has been scheduled for 17 April before action serves off on 18 April. Early arrival will help the players settle before we can begin our campaign," Tarus added.
The annual continental showpiece had earlier been set for Egypt from March 31 to April 12 but CAVB was forced to find a new host nation and change the dates to give the new hosts adequate time to prepare after Egypt delayed their confirmation of hosting the men's event.
