My case is similar to Hakeem Olajuwon's, says the NBA star
Born and raised in Greece, he wears the jersey of the Greek national team, but he says he is a Nigerian.
Giannis Antetokounmpo spoke more openly than ever in the "48 Minutes" Greek TV show.
Even though he says he proudly wears the Greece jersey, Giannis underlines that his origins are from another continent.
"I carry within me the values and principles of the Nigerian people. After all, my parents are Nigerian and I grew up in that environment. Of course, I was born in Greece, grew up in Greece, with a European mentality, so I carry parts of both sides in me," Giannis said.
"My case is similar to Hakeem's because even though he is also Nigerian, more people know him for his American side. I was born in Greece, I play for Greece, but everyone knows that I am Nigerian and that I belong to its culture. This summer I went there with my mother and brothers. I am an African," concluded he.
