FEASSSA Games:St. Anthony’s Kitale edge Musingu in fierce derby as FEASSSA Day Three thrills

In girls hockey, St. Joseph’s Kitale Girls once again showcased their dominance, dispatching Mushanga 11–0 in a one-sided contest

St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale hockey team underlined their title credentials with a hard-fought 2–1 win over defending champions Musingu on day four of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games.

Collins Kimtai gave St. Anthony’s the perfect start with a second-minute strike before Daniel Kipchirchir doubled the advantage in the 38th minute.

Musingu mounted a spirited fightback, pulling one back through Brian Anzeze in the 55th minute, but the late surge was not enough to deny their archrivals maximum points.

The result lifts St. Anthony’s closer to the top of the boys’ hockey standings, while leaving Musingu with ground to cover if they are to retain their crown.

In other boys matches, St. Charles Lwanga beat Ntare 3-1, Mpesa Foundation Academy drew 1-1 with Kyadondo, Kakungulu beat Mbarara 2-0.

In girls hockey, St. Joseph’s Kitale Girls once again showcased their dominance, dispatching Mushanga 11–0 in a one-sided contest. Bweranyangi also impressed with a commanding 5–0 win over Namagunga, while Tigoi and Ng’iya settled for a share of the spoils in their evenly matched clash.

In girls volleyball, Kenyan champions Kwanthanze maintained their impeccable form with a straight-sets victory over compatriots Soweto (25–17, 25–19, 25–19). Defending champions Kesogon added another win for the Kenyans, sweeping aside Uganda’s Bukedea (25–13, 25–9, 25–13).

Elsewhere, Kamonyi of Rwanda overcame Amus of Uganda 3–1 (25–17, 25–19, 21–25, 25–18), while Katikamu (Uganda) beat Kajunjumele (Tanzania) 3–1. Mwanhuzi (Tanzania) also stunned Rwanda’s St Aloys with a 3–1 victory.

In boys volleyball, Cheptil overcame fellow Kenyans Gogo in straight sets (25–22, 25–23, 25–14) to stay on course, while Rwanda’s PSV F defeated Mwaluphamba (Kenya) 3–0.

Bugobwa of Tanzania edged St Peters (Kenya) 3–1, as Bukedea (Uganda) cruised past Tumbi (Tanzania) in straight sets. Standard High (Uganda) stunned Malava (Kenya) 3–1, and St Philip (Rwanda) sealed a pulsating 3–2 triumph over St Jerome (Uganda).

The fast-paced 3x3 basketball action produced surprises, with Kenya’s Buruburu Girls edging Uganda’s Buddo 9–8 in a nail-biter. St Mary’s (Uganda) and Seroma also picked comfortable wins.

In the boys’ matches, Sigalame (Kenya) outclassed compatriots St Mary’s Yala 21–12, while Pioneer edged St Joseph’s (Kenya) 17–16 in a thriller.
