Dagoretti floors Highway to regain Nairobi Region football title

Dagoretti last graced the nationals in the 2019 edition held in Kisumu.

Dagoretti High School regained the Nairobi Region title after humbling Highway Secondary School 1-0 in a Term Two Games final played at Moi Girls’ School grounds on Tuesday.

The result, saw Dagoretti revenge last year’s painful semifinal loss to Highway who went on to win the regional title at the expense of Waylight School.

Highway are under the tutelage of Rising Starlets coach Beldine Odemba who doubles up as Kenya Police Bullets FC (formerly Thika Queens).

Dismus Ongoncho was the hero of the match as his first half strike settled the contest as well as propelled his institution to the national level.

Dagoretti last graced the nationals in the 2019 edition held in Kisumu.

In the girls’ category, Dagoretti Mixed retained their regional title after flooring Olympic High School 2-0.

Consequently, the two schools will feature in the nationals set to be held in Kakamega.

Meanwhile, Ruthimitu Mixed Secondary School defended their volleyball title after hitting Hospital Hill 3-1 (25-22, 26-28, 25-21, 25-19).

Soweto, showed no mercy to Brown Hill as they floored the latter 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-13) in the boys’ category.

Both Ruthimitu and Soweto were the defending Nairobi champions.

Upper Hill and Lenana School booked a place in the rugby sevens nationals. Upper Hill beat Lenana 14-10.
