The announcement comes after a section of Kenyan netizens demanded a full list of the delegation that will accompany the athletes to the Olympics.

The National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) is expected to release the Team Kenya delegation to the Paris Olympics, with athletes, coaches and medics being prioritized.

This will be done to ensure a well-supported Kenyan team competes at their best.

The announcement comes after a section of Kenyan netizens demanded a full list of the delegation that will accompany the athletes to the Olympics.

In an open letter from the Ministry of Sports to NOC-K, Sports Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ababu Namwamba called on the committee's Secretary General Francis Mutuku to ensure that the roles of each travelling member was well stipulated to avoid any joy riders.

"As discussed and resolved by the PMC, the National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOCK), being the custodian and responsible body for the games, should expedite the finalisation of the Team Kenya delegation to the Paris 2024.

The delegation to be kept at the barest minimum as directed by myself and affirmed by the PMC. The priority is athletes, their coaches and medics," part of the letter read.

To further uphold transparency, the Ministry advised that NOC-K's budget should reflect the actual number of qualified athletes, revised scale of allowances and rewards for athletes (Revised 2023). The austerity measures the Ministry is implementing across all expenditure centers should also be included.

NOC-K has also been urged to prepare a detailed report on the process, status and cost of the ceremonial, training and competition kit.

Both the delegation and the final budget should be presented at the next PMC meeting.

"Do further note that in line with the Government's transparency, and accountability policy, the full Team Kenya delegation should be made public by NOCK," the Ministry clarified.

Close to 10,500 athletes representing 205 nations are expected in Paris where they will compete in 32 sporting disciplines featuring 329 events.

Kenya will be represented in six sports; athletics, rugby sevens, judo, fencing, volleyball and swimming.
