
Action begins in February as boxing federation release busy 2022 calendar

League teams have five legs set for between September and December with the first outing set for Kitale on 1 to 3 September.
Boxing Federation of Kenya (BFK) will begin its activities on 16 to 19 February with the National Novices competition set to be hosted in Nairobi.
In a calendar seen by Mozzart Sport, released by the competition's secretaty John Waweru on 31 December 2021, the federation has factored in all continental and international events set to be held within the year in their calender.

The second national event is scheduled for 3 to 5 March in Thika, the National Intermediate involving all counties paving way for the Africa Zone 3 and Africa Championships expected to be held in March in Tanzania and Tunisia involving the national teams.
“We will begin with the novice boxing championships that will be hosted by all the 22 branches across the country. The top two contestants in each weight category will proceed to the intermediate level whose winners and runners up will secure berths to flex muscles at the Kenya Open. The national competitions will be used to identify boxers who will fly the country's flag at the international outings," Federation communications director Dancan Kuria told the Star.

Between 6 and 9 April, the federation will conduct its Youth and Junior School boys and girls national selection.
League teams will first be in action between 14 and 16 April when they face off in the National Open in Nairobi.
With four international championships set for between April and August including the Global Boxing Cup in Russia, IBA Women's World Boxing Championship set for Turkey in May, the International Boxing Cup in June and the Commonwealth Games that will run between July and August local action will resume on 26 and 27 as all counties come together for the International Boxing Day competitions in Nairobi.

League teams have five legs set for between September and December with the first outing set for Kitale on 1 to 3 September.
Four separate events will be held on 3 December bringing together different teams for the Inter-Counties. The final action for the year will be the fifth league leg set for 10 to 12 December in Kisumu.
