New fixture list for Kenya U21 sides ahead of Junior Africa Cup

With the 2024 Junior Africa Cup (JAC) around the corner, the African Hockey Federation has released a revised match schedule for the tournament, which will take place from 18 to 25 April at the WHS Davin Trustco Astro in Windhoek, Namibia.

The updated fixtures outline a packed calendar for the men’s and women’s U21 national teams battling for the coveted spots at the 2025 FIH Junior World Cup.

For Kenya, both the men’s and women’s teams will have to navigate the round-robin format with no room for error, as they target a top-three finish to secure World Cup qualification.

The U21 men’s side opens their campaign on Friday, 18 April, at 1:00 PM, facing Zimbabwe in what is expected to be a high-stakes opener.

They will then take on Egypt on Saturday, 19 April, at 3:00 PM, before clashing with continental giants South Africa on Monday, 21 April, at 1:00 PM.

Kenya will wrap up with matches against Zambia on Tuesday, 22 April, at 1:00 PM and Namibia on Thursday, 24 April, at 11:00 AM.

The Kenyan U21 women will also kick off their campaign on opening day, Friday, 18 April, at 3:00 PM, against hosts Namibia.

Their second fixture will be against Uganda on Saturday, 19 April, at 7:00 PM, followed by a highly anticipated clash with South Africa on Monday, 21 April, at 3:00 PM.

They continue their journey with a game against Zambia on Tuesday, 22 April, at 3:00 PM, and will wrap up against Zimbabwe on Thursday, 24 April, at 3:00 PM.

The revised schedule sets up a dramatic final day on Friday, 25 April, with placement matches for positions three and four taking place in the early afternoon, followed by the women’s and men’s finals at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM respectively.
