This move comes at a time when Kenya is expected to host the FIBA Africa Zone Five Under-16 nations championship in Mombasa.
Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) is set to host a tryout and selection event for Under- 13 to Under-18 teams on 14 and 15 January in Nairobi.
The move is aimed at initiating an extensive development strategy with development coaches set for a meeting on 7 January before the tryouts the following weekend.

The initiative will involve secondary school coaches through Kenya Secondary School Sport Association (KSSSA), coaches commission, and all academy and talent Centres' tacticians.
"This tryout will mark the start of an elaborate strategy aimed at creating a pool of potential national team players and to open equal opportunities to all," a invitation letter to all concerned parties reads in part.
In a similar development, plans are underway for the federation to introduce an Under-23 Friday-night competition that will continue to identify players that are ready to be included in the senior team while keeping a steady pool of players for competitions in that age group.
This move comes at a time when Kenya is expected to host the FIBA Africa Zone Five Under-16 nations championship in Mombasa.
The event was initially set for 13 to 17 December at the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa but Kenya requested for a change in dates to March this year.
