KMSF embark on journey to salvage dwindling national championship.
Kenya Motorsport Federation (KMSF) secretariat has finished collecting input from stakeholders on how to revive the once vibrant Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) that cab barely attract 20 entries now.
While there is excitement after the country’s Safari Rally got back to the World Rally Championship (WRC) stage, the national championship has been on a downward trajectory and the federation has finally voiced its concerns.
Also witnessing good entries are the East Africa Safari Classic Rally and its Mini Classic but the days of having more than 50 entries in the KNRC are long gone.
In a statement, KMSF announced that the chairman had constituted an Advisory Task Force mandated with the review of the KNRC structure and how to get more drivers participating.
The task force is expected to review the current structure of KNRC and Club rallies that has led to low entries and come up with recommendations on how the challenges can be addressed with the aim of improving the entries.
Review the existing regulations and where they are a hindrance to growth in the sport, make recommendations on changes to the regulations to ease participation.
Recommend measures that would bring down the cost of participation in the sport.
The task force through the KMSF secretariat welcomed stakeholders to send their input on the three areas under review an exercise that concluded on Wednesday 16 November.
