Lecce winger Lameck Banda will remember Saturday, March 14, 2026, for the rest of his life
Last Saturday, Napoli beat Lecce 2-1 and continued their battle for the Champions League, though the match at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona could have been marked by a tragic moment.
The visitors' winger Lameck Banda collapsed on the pitch in the final minutes of the match, but was eventually all right, as the reason behind the incident was a knock on his chest he sustained seconds before falling.
The Zambian was stretchered off the pitch and rushed to a Neapolitan hospital, where he stayed for a while. However, he was discharged in time to witness the most beautiful moment of his life.
It proved to be quite the weekend for Lecce forward Lameck Banda, as after he collapsed during the Serie A game with Napoli, he was released from hospital just in time for the birth of his daughter.#Lecce #NapoliLecce #SerieA #Calcio #SerieAEnilive pic.twitter.com/yJ25fwBGov

Namely, once he left the hospital, Banda travelled 400 km from Naples to Lecce, where he also visited another hospital, this time for a much more meaningful and heartwarming reason: his wife gave birth to their first-born child, a daughter named Rumi Ezlyn.
In the end, all's well that ends well, though Banda will remember Saturday, March 14, 2026, for the rest of his life, as both luckiest and happiest day ever.
