There were a couple of reasons, not just the fact that Auba spent four years with the Rossoneri's youth setups from 2007 to 2011. He netted once following Reece James' assist before James himself later added one more to seal the win.
This goal and the assist, together with lots of ground and aerial duels won, brought James 'the man of the match reward'.

If you ask the Gabonese forward, his teammate is dominating not only UCL games on Wednesday nights but much more...
"For me, Reece James is the best full-back in the world at the moment. He's doing a great job, he had a goal and an assist."
Asked about his former side, Auba gave his impression of the Rossoneri as a whole.
"A difficult team to play against, they play really good football. To tell the truth, I didn't expect them to be so strong, but I think we had the right intensity to beat them, "concluded the former Arsenal captain.
