Xavi: Injustice! We were better than Real Madrid, everyone saw the ball crossed the goal line

"The normal thing would have been for us to win this match because of the performance we gave, but there are refereeing situations that we cannot control," said the Barcelona coach after the El Clasico defeat

Last year, Xavi snatched the title from Real Madrid in his debut full season on the Barcelona bench, but as things stand, the crown will once again move to the Royals' showcases at the Santiago Bernabeu. In a great El Clasico, Carlo Ancelotti's team won 3-2 with Jude Bellingham's goal in the first minute of stoppage time.

Barca led twice, but in the end lost. After being eliminated from the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain, a new bitter pill for the Catalans. Now they have to fight for second place.

"I am very disappointed. We want to say that this is the best league in the world yet everyone saw that the ball went over the goal line. Everything conspired against us. I already warned against Getafe that I didn't like what I saw. I am proud of the team. I think we were better than Real Madrid. We lose points in situations we don't control, such as transition," said Xavi after the match, but he didn't want to talk about the referees anymore.

"Everyone saw it and they can sanction me. That's my image. I just want to talk about the game. We lost the game because of the details, it happens to us because we are a team undergoing reconstruction. We have to be proud of our game."

Barça remain in the fight for second place with their neighbors from Girona.

"We have to think about the second place. I have a feeling of contradiction. The normal thing would have been for us to win this match because of the performance we gave, but there are refereeing situations that we cannot control."

During the season, he announced his departure in the summer. He didn't want to talk about the future, whether he had changed his mind.

"It's not the time for that. We have to digest the defeat and think about the game against Valencia. There are still six games left, we have work to do. Winning the league title is very difficult. The goal is to play the Super Cup next year. There are always goals."

Xavi spoke at the press conference about young Lamine Yamal also.

"Without trying to compare him to Messi, we are dealing with a player who makes a difference. In a one-on-one game, he is hard to stop and attracts two or three players. That's a huge advantage. He is the present and the future of Barcelona".

The coach of the still reigning champion of Spain referred to the disputed moment when Barcelona's goal was disallowed.

"La Liga has 38 games, and in the end, we have to congratulate Real Madrid. They lost only one game. It's very difficult for us. But today, what I feel is complete injustice. If we want to be the best league in the world, we have to use technology," concluded the Barcelona coach.
