Nzoia have won a game in the past seven rounds, a run which contrasts that of last season
It has been a rocky start of life for coach Godfrey Oduor in his second stint with Nzoia Sugar as the club has won a game in the opening seven rounds of the season.
Nzoia set the bar high last season after finishing in the top four bracket but the Bungoma-based outfit is seemingly struggling to replicate the same this campaign given their form in the first seven matches.
At hand to answer to the worrying struggles on the pitch is Oduor who succeeded Salim Babu after the conclusion of the past campaign.
Oduor, who is in second spell with the club outlined a number of issues that have contributed to the four successive losses and two draws.
The tactician observed that nervousness by some of the players who are in their debut season in the top flight as well as the recurrent lapses in concentration especially in the second halves had cost the team points.
"The boys have been conceding a lot of easy goals. After analyzing the situations leading to the goals, I realized loss in concentration by some individuals and by the entire team in some instances was a challenge. I have also noted that some players are yet to adapt to top flight demands," he shared his piece of mind.
The CAF A coaching course student didn't stop there as he regretted that the team was feeling and paying for the short pre-season period they had.
Nzoia had to rebuild the team after losing more than half a dozen first-team players who left for greener pastures.
"We brought in many players in the last transfer window. Some didn't have top-flight experience and given the short pre-season we had, struggling in the initial stages of the season was inevitable. We are trying hard to have the team balanced," stated the former Harambee Starlets gaffer.
In all these, Oduor admits that the buck stops with him and in this regard, the former Kibera Black Stars coach says he is working round the clock to turn the team's fortunes around.
"I am trying my best to inject confidence in the team and having it balanced. It's slightly difficult to do it when in competition but it will be done. We only need two to three wins to get us moving. One thing I don't want the boys to think about is where the bar was placed by the team last season. I want them to concentrate on getting the rhythm first," added Oduor.
