The two sides will lock horns in the second leg of the CAF Champions League final preliminary round on Friday, 24 October, after the Sudanese club squeezed a 1-0 victory in the first leg played on Friday, 17 October at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Lang’ata.

Ordinarily, Al Hilal would have hosted their home tie at the 35,000-seater Al Hilal Stadium in Omdurman, but the match will now be staged at the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Libya.

This is occasioned by the political instability in Sudan that has led to the displacement of a large number of Sudanese and the suspension of Sports activities in the country.

In fact, together with Al-Merrikh, Al Hilal competed in the Mauritanian top tier to earn qualification to this season's CAF CL.

Despite securing a vital away win in the first leg, Al Hilal coach Laurentiu Reghecampf is still wary of the Law Enforcers ahead of the second leg.

“We have two games. The first one had good results because we had an away win, which is important in this situation, but you know, in football, everything is possible.

Even Police had the same problem losing at home after winning away (against Mogadishu City Club). However, we are positive about the result, but we have to concentrate and do a little bit more in the second half,” said Reghecampf.

After scoring in the 20th minute through Adama Coulibaly, the Sudanese giants spent much of the second half defending their lead, something the tactician revealed was not their strategy.

“Our tactic is to attack and put pressure on the opponent high up the pitch, but sometimes it is difficult for the team because we also need the results.

We will work on that. I know my team can keep the ball for 90 minutes and score the second and third goal, but I also need a little more time myself,” he stated.

The winner of the tie will book a place in the CAF Champions League group stage.
