The result saw Shabana slip from second to fourth spot on the standings, with seven points, piling pressure on head coach Peter Okidi to inspire a quick turnaround

Despite enduring a disappointing 1–0 home defeat to Mathare United, Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Shabana FC found a silver lining on the financial front after recording over Kshs 1.19 million in gate collections.

The Kisii-based outfit confirmed, through an official club update, that the Sunday fixture at Gusii Stadium yielded impressive revenue figures despite the on-field setback.

"We collected a gross revenue of Ksh 1,197,000.Not the result your support deserved ,we promise to bounce back. It was great seeing the stadium painted red and white," read the club’s statement.

The figure represents a significant rise of Kshs 262,000 from their previous home match against Posta Rangers, where the club banked Kshs 935,000.

The strong turnout once again highlighted Shabana’s unrivalled fan loyalty, with the Gusii faithful filling the stands in their signature red and white colours.

However, the buoyant scenes off the pitch contrasted sharply with a frustrating performance on it.

The Glamour Boys failed to replicate their early-season spark, succumbing to a narrow defeat that marked their second successive loss of the 2025/26 campaign.

Their struggles were compounded by the continued absence of captain George Onyango and lead goal scorer Brian Michira, whose absence was evident as the team once again failed to find the back of the net.

Former Shabana forward Dennis Okoth turned tormentor, netting the solitary goal in the 38th minute to hand the visitors all three points.

The result saw Shabana slip from second to fourth spot on the standings, with seven points, piling pressure on head coach Peter Okidi to inspire a quick turnaround.

Shabana will look to reignite their campaign when they host AFC Leopards on Wednesday,29 October at the Gusii Stadium.
